I’ve been coaching Executives and Professionals for over 15 years. Even as an Industrial and Organizational Psychologist with specialized training in coaching, emotional intelligence, and personality, when I started out, I was a long way away from having all the knowledge I needed to be able to really assist clients with the many challenges they faced as humans, and leaders.
Throughout the years, I have bumbled along, seeking out and stumbling across concepts, ideas, and theories that illuminate human behavior and help my clients live closer to the people they desire to be, by making meaningful progress toward their goals.
I have spent many years randomly Googling concepts that live somewhere in my brain vault and sending my Executive Coaching clients random blog links to summarize core ideas quickly. It’s time to formalize things and record what I find useful in one place because, in truth, I haven’t found a knowledge base like it anywhere else. Even though I’ve come across many great one-off articles (saved in multiple different places, never to be re-read), I’ve yet to find that one resource that offers consistent, clear, useable ideas and guidance in an easy-to-digest and understandable format.
So, I have created just that with The Excelling Exec.
Here you can expect to find a resource hub that consistently serves up thought-provoking models, questions, concepts, and ideas to help you be a more self-aware and impactful leader in both work and life.
Why is it worthwhile pursuing such a project for yourself?
Because stagnation is like a gravitational pull in adulthood. Unless we’re intentional about continuing to invest in creating our lives and careers from a place of self-awareness and understanding, we can easily fall prey to what feels like a lackluster existence, leaving us living in a meh-ness. And life can begin to feel rather dull, much like a Groundhog Day existence where we can find ourselves simply running through the motions.
Building on the cartoon above, if you don’t prioritize growth, nothing magical is going to happen and suddenly change things on your behalf. Life requires you to be an active participant.
Self-knowledge and contemplation are the tools that challenge stagnation and allow you to live and lead from an authentic place. And The Executive Brief will offer you just that.
What drives me in the work I do?
Our changing world requires more self-aware, compassionate, and centered leaders. Organizations are also crucial pillars in our modern society.
With those two points in mind, the impact organizational leaders and professionals can have on the lives of those around them cannot be understated. Each of us has a ripple effect on those within our sphere (whether our family, friends, acquaintances, colleagues or direct reports). When we lead ourselves well, we inevitably positively impact the world around us.
And as an Executive Coach and lifelong student of the human experience, my skillset lies in helping people become the phenomenal leaders this world so desperately needs.
